Associate Medical Director of Clinical Education & Excellence

Newark, NJ
Full Time
Experienced

Executive Summary

The Associate Medical Director (AMD) is the primary architect of clinical quality and provider success at Mindify Wellenss and care  This is not just an administrative role; it is a Master Clinician position. The AMD is responsible for the "clinical lifecycle" of our Psychiatrists and APNs—from their first day of onboarding to their daily complex case consultations. You are the guardian of our clinical standards, ensuring every provider delivers care that is evidence-based, compassionate, and compliant.

The "Core Pillars" of the Role

I. Clinical Onboarding & "Mastery" Training

  • The First 90 Days: Own the clinical integration of all new Psychiatrists and APNs. You will lead "bootcamp" sessions on company protocols, prescribing philosophy, and documentation standards.

  • Shadowing & Proctoring: Conduct initial direct observations of new providers to verify clinical acumen and bedside manner before they transition to full autonomy.

  • Curriculum Development: Create a library of clinical resources, "cheat sheets" for common comorbidities, and updated protocols for high-risk medications (e.g., Clozapine, LAIs).

II. The "Clinical Hotline" (Real-Time Support)

  • Primary Consultant: Serve as the immediate point of contact for providers facing diagnostic dilemmas, medication side-effect management, or "difficult patient" scenarios.

  • Open-Door Mentorship: Hold weekly "Office Hours" or "Grand Rounds" where providers can present cases for group learning and peer support.

  • Question Resolution: Be the final word on clinical questions, ensuring no provider ever feels they are practicing in a vacuum.

III. Quality Assurance & Service Integrity

  • Performance Metrics: Monitor "Clinical KPIs" (e.g., proper use of rating scales, metabolic monitoring for antipsychotics, and follow-up intervals).

  • Documentation Integrity: Ensure that "providing the service" translates to "documenting the service." Review charts to ensure they meet the highest medical necessity standards.

  • Risk Mitigation: Lead the clinical response to adverse events, ensuring proper reporting and implementing corrective training to prevent recurrence.

Target Candidate Profile

  • The Educator: You don’t just know the answer; you enjoy teaching why it’s the answer.

  • The Stabilizer: You remain calm during psychiatric crises and provide clear, decisive guidance to junior staff.

  • The Diplomat: You can provide critical feedback to a peer (Psychiatrist or APN) in a way that inspires improvement rather than defensiveness.

Requirements & Credentials

  • Board Certification: Psychiatry (ABPN) is required.

  • Experience: At least 5–7 years of post-residency clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a teaching or supervisory capacity (e.g., Chief Resident, Assistant Professor, or Medical Director).

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of state-specific scope of practice for APNs and collaborative practice agreement requirements.

Key Performance Indicators (Success Metrics)

  1. Provider Retention: Reducing turnover by ensuring new hires feel supported and competent.

  2. Clinical Accuracy: Achieving >95% pass rate on internal clinical audits.

  3. Speed to Competency: Reducing the time it takes for a new hire to reach full productivity while maintaining quality.
